Start here

Blurish finds the faces in your videos and photos and covers them. It does all of that on your iPhone. Your videos and photos are never uploaded — not to us, and not to anyone else.

There is no account, no sign-up and no email address. Blurish has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking, and it never asks for permission to track you.

Your videos and photos

You pick a video or photo through Apple's Photos picker or the Files app. Blurish sees only the item you pick, not the rest of your library, and makes its own copy in the app's storage on your device to work on. Your original is never changed.

Faces are found by Apple's Vision framework, which runs on the device. Blurish works out where each face is in each frame and keeps those positions, along with the masks and effects you choose, as part of the project. It does not work out who anyone is: there is no face recognition, and nothing is stored that could identify a person.

A project stays on your iPhone until you delete it in the app or delete the app. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, the app's storage is included in that backup the same way as other apps.

When you export, the new file is saved to Photos only if you tap Save — the first time, iOS asks whether Blurish may add to your library, which lets it add but never read — or is handed to the app you choose in the share sheet.

Stickers

An image you add as a sticker is copied into the app's storage on your device and stays there until you delete it. The sticker kits come with the app; choosing one sends nothing anywhere.

The one thing that leaves your phone

When it starts, Blurish asks Google's Firebase Remote Config for a few settings, such as how long a video the free plan takes. That lets us change them without an update.

To answer, Firebase receives a random identifier it creates for this install of the app, the app's version and build, the iOS version, and the device's language and region, along with the network address any internet request carries. It receives nothing from your videos or photos, nothing about the faces in them, and nothing about how you use the app.

That identifier belongs to the install, not to you: it is not linked to your name, your email or your Apple Account, and deleting the app ends it. If the request fails or you are offline, Blurish uses its built-in settings and works as normal.

Subscriptions and payment

Premium is sold by Apple, not by us. Your payment details go to Apple, and we never see a card number, a billing address or the name on the account.

Blurish asks Apple, on your device, whether you have an active subscription, and uses the answer to unlock Premium. That answer is not sent to us — we run no server for the app.

Notifications

If you start the free trial, Blurish offers to remind you two days before it turns into a paid plan. If you allow notifications, that reminder is scheduled on your iPhone itself. No push token is created and nothing is sent to a server; the reminder is removed if your subscription will no longer renew.

Ratings and email

After your first save, Blurish may show Apple's rating prompt. Apple runs it and decides whether it appears; we only learn about a rating if you leave one on the App Store.

If you write to us, we see your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply.

Children

Blurish is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone, children included. Parents often use it to hide children's faces before sharing a video; those videos stay on the parent's iPhone like any other.

Changes to this policy

If what the app does with your data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. We will not quietly broaden what the app sends and leave the old page up.
